Take Time Out for Mom

Hi it’s Alice Seba, one of your regular contributors here at Baby Talk Radio.  I’m looking forward to this experience and hope that what I share is going to help you out and perhaps give you a laugh or two along the way.  Because what good is life without a little laughter and fun?  If you had a chance to read my bio on the www.babytalkradio.com  site you will actually see something that I said.  And it says that I love to help other moms embrace their love of being a mom be an independent woman.

On the surface, those two things appear that they conflict.  When you are dealing with precious little babies, the independent woman gets thrown out the door.  Let me tell you something from personal experience, you get so immersed in being a mom that you completely forget about yourself, you lose yourself and when you lose yourself it has a tremendous effect on your family.  In future recordings I will probably share with you a little bit about how it affected my family because it really did.  I’m not just saying oh you should do this and you should do this because I’ve been there so I understand what it’s like.  An unhappy mom usually ends up meaning an unhappy spouse, unhappy children or at least they are not going to be as happy and fulfilled as they can be.

Mom is the center, not the center but everyone looks to mom for everything so if moms not doing the best she can then how can the rest of the family possibly do that?  If there are things you enjoyed before you became a mom, keep doing those things!  Go out to lunch with friends, head back to the gym when your doctor says it’s ok or just enjoy a little time to yourself.  I promise baby will be safe with daddy or trusted family member or friend.

When you get back you will be refreshed, revived and some of that energy that was totally draining is going to come back.  Of course there is always the money guilt and that is probably something we will talk about in future weeks but don’t let it get to you.  Nobody said that being a mother meant that you have to be a martyr.  And if anyone did tell you that, stop listening to them right now!  That’s my lecture for today, in the coming weeks I’ll be back with more tips to help you enjoy being both a momma and woman!

So until next time, please even take just 20 minutes if you can, take some time out for yourself!   A few of us from Baby Talk Radio are already there and we look forward to chatting with you.  Take care and talk to you next time.
