Hi moms this is Kari St. Lois from Maple Creek Naturals (http://www.maplecreeknaturals.com).  Today I’m going to talk about tips and tricks to help calm your little one.  For those new moms that have babies you may find these tips helpful and for those soon to be mommies take note I’m sure you will want to refer to these tips someday.

A crying baby can mean several things.  It can mean there is some internal discomfort such as feeling gassy or maybe a hiccup that is on strike or maybe possible dairy and other allergies that may be causing havoc internally.  Or simply a crying baby can just simply mean they just want to be snuggled and held and close to their mama.  So let’s talk about some snuggly tips.

The first thing I recommend is to make sure that you have purchased a baby sling.  Babies who are held or carried are less fussy than most left in a playpen, highchair or even an infant car seat.  Second tip is aromatherapy while rocking your baby.  You can spritz some light lavender aromatherapy on your shirt; hold your baby close and when you rock your baby your baby can get some aromatherapy as well.

If baby cries are creating anxiety for you you may want to soothe yourself with some soft mellow music, use your iPod and rock your baby and try to be as calm as possible.  Please note that when mommy is anxious baby gets anxious, they can sense mommy’s anxiety which in turn can make them cry even longer and louder so that’s why its important to calm your anxiety.  So dust off that iPod if you are not using it.

The third tip is to go on a walk.  This creates a change of scenery and gives baby a breath of fresh air.  The fourth tip, roll baby on a work out ball they love that.  That’s if you have one, if you don’t have one go get one, they love the soft rocking motion of a work out ball and that’s all for today.  For crying that may be related to internal discomfort I encourage you to visit my blog over at http://www.maplecreeknaturals.com for more helpful tips.
