HI
there Baby Talk Radio listeners this is Jennifer from
http://www.ilovebeingamom.com. I have been missing in action for a
couple weeks, there has been a sickness going around in my household. We
are finally starting to get a little bit better. One little girl is still
sick but she is getting there. Anyways I wanted to talk to you this week
about the age group of 7-9 months, the activities that are good for them.
During this time the babies start to develop more hand coordination with
their self. They are able to transfer items from hand to hand. Their hands
are starting to be more relaxed so that they are open more and they have the
finger and thumb grip which means they can grab smaller items. So what I
like to do during this age group is they are going to start getting on all
fours and starting to crawl so what you can do is put your toys, like baby
rattles – something real colorful that is going to get their attention – and
put it just a few feet away from them so that they have to reach to get it.
That
way it will start moving them and trying to get them up on all fours and
crawling. Also another thing that I love to do with my baby’s is just put
out a blanket onto the floor and because they are sitting up now, just sit
there and start playing games with them like peak-a-boo or patty cake, just
something to get interactive with them. You can do something like 10 to 15
minutes a day.
Its
sort of like mom, or even you can have your significant other and do it,
it’s just a bonding time with you and your baby. Also, babies are going to
start pulling up. For example when they are trying to get up onto the couch
they will start pulling up so that’s some good exercising activities that
you can get your baby to do.
Also
another thing is push walkers. You probably have seen them before. Now
they even have music when they push them. Since they are going to start
pulling up and standing between 7-9 months you can get the push walkers
where they can stand up and pull at 7 to 8 months and at 9 months they may
even start to eventually push it.
You
can just clap your hands, get in front of them if they are standing behind
it and start clapping your hands really praising them and saying good job
good job even if they are just standing and not pushing it. Eventually
after a couple weeks of doing it 10-15 minutes a day they will get ok momma
is clapping so let me try to push it. Really praise them and smile and it
really will click with them. Ok well this is just a couple of activities
that is good for the age 7-9 months. I will be back next week with the age
9-12 months. Hug them babies tight. Thank you.
