TV For Babies? Scary…
Oh brother.
Even with all the evidence that TV is a bad idea for babies and toddlers, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under two not watch TV AT ALL, here comes Baby TV… 24 hour a day programming for baby. Oh but it’s commercial free so that makes it ok, right?
According to the article, “The company … claims the images help babies to explore the natural world and promote learning, development and fun. It even promises to encourage parent infant interaction, because they can watch the television together.”
Two questions: Since when is watching TV side by side “interacting”? TV STOPS interaction and communication. And how exactly does watching TV help babies explore the natural world?
Here’s a novel idea. Take baby outside for a walk and TALK to her. How’s that for interacting with people and nature?
